The Columbia University Commencement Ceremony for 2014 is still 2 days away on Wednesday May 21, but when I was there 2 weeks ago to shoot the campus on a pretty Sunday morning, many commencement facilities – such as seats and tents — were already in place. Also in place were many blooming flowers that made the campus more colorful than usual. I don’t remember the campus ever being this in bloom when I went there, but I would guess that reflects my powers and focus of observation rather than an actual change in the campus. It was, in fact, a bit of a surprise — and certainly a pleasant one — when I arrived that morning and saw the scene.
