Juniper Park In Snow

Juniper Park In Snow

This is ever so slightly different from what I expected when I took the photo. I was certain that I would take the stark contrast, further amplify it in black and white, and then maybe push it towards a high key effect to really play up the whiteness.

But when I looked closely at the image on screen I saw a subtle red tint to some of the tree branches; I’m not sure how it even happened. Meanwhile the bulk of the solid objects ended up looking black even without a conversion. In the end I decided to keep the color and even punch it up just a tiny, tiny bit. It’s not what I planned. It’s better.

  1. Awesome contrast, I am curious if this was yesterdays storm?

    1. Thanks Mike. Yes, I captured this yesterday morning on the way to work.

  2. I can almost hear the silence in that shot. Pristine scene, Mark.
