Another Mohonk Monday Macro Flower

Like the image last week, this was taken handheld on the D7000 with the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens, which is not true macro but serves capably well for the purpose. I just adore the colors on these flowers. Almost no digital manipulation here except an ever so slight saturation boost and the black point slider moved just a hair to the right.  I also love the contrasting focus levels – not quite bokeh, but interesting all the same.

  1. Nice colors Mark, I like the new look as well

  2. Wonderful macro Mark. Love the detail.

  3. Yes, this type of flower produces great shots – bright colours and strong contrasting stripes in the petals too. I think I would have cropped off that partial flower on the right edge – it will create more of a square image but the main flower then also moves off-centre – and personally I think that makes a stronger composition. I love the colours.
