Palace Diner Farewell

I was on vacation the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and I extended that to include photography expeditions so it was just a week to sleep in and relax. As much as I enjoy getting out to take photos, it does involve some work. But I made an exception when I read a news account that we were about to lose another diner. On December 30, 2011, the Palace Diner. I did get up one morning (as it turned out probably the coldest morning of the winter so far), and drove to Main Street and Horace Harding Boulevard to get some shots before the place closed.  My understanding is that the building will remain and reopen as an Asian restaurant — either Korean or Chinese.

This is facing East, with the Horace Harding Expressway to the right, and behind it and the tree line is the Long Island Expressway, for which the Horace Harding is a service road.

  1. Nice Mark. I like the curves on top of the building along with the curved lines in the pavement. And the phantom looking cars are perfect. Great capture.

    1. Thanks, Mark I’m glad you like the ghosted cars. I usually clean them up but something made me want to keep them here.
