Brothers

This is another water tower shot from a morning excursion with my friend Chris Robins. He inspired me to look for and shoot water towers that day — something I have continued doing since then, although the neighborhood we were in that morning really had more than I have ever seen since.

Well, Chris has published a couple of water tower shots from that morning, and my image today reminds me a bit of this one. The theme of old water tower set against a backdrop of a newer office or residential tower is kind of irresistible, once you notice it.

New York City still has a lot of water towers although many are being dismantled. Maybe, between Chris and me, we can shoot them all before they disappear.

  1. These are such an iconic part of NYC history and it is sad to read that they are slowly disappearing. Nice to see the old against the new.

  3. Fun project to capture a piece of history before we tear it all down.

  4. Totally lovin’ this post Mark. I, too, find it very important to document these sorts of historic things before they disappear forever. Great capture, my friend.
