Standard Hotel, High Line, Kodak Portra 400 Medium Format Film

Standard Hotel, High Line

This is a reasonably familiar photographic composition, featuring the Standard Hotel over the High Line park, framed by the cut-out of another building that straddles the park. Taken with Fuji GF670 medium format and Kodak Portra 400 film.

  1. Good composition in this image, with that strong diagonal line on top. Also good to see that you keep using film in this era of omnipresent digital cameras:)

    1. Thanks for the comment Luis. It’s always great to get positive feedback from someone whose work I respect in turn. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to meet last Spring when you were in NYC and I happened to be out of town. Hopefully our paths will cross some time.

  2. I like the way this is framed by the foreground shadow and the black structural elements. And those two building elements contrast each other so well – that vertical slice and the square block. So crisp too. Lovely shot, Mark. I’ve meant to ask you before what scanner you use to convert your film work to digital?

  3. Thanks Mark, it’s always a pleasure to visit your blog and admire your work. Don’t worry if we couldn’t meet last year, there will certainly be other opportunities!
