Washington Square Arch, Empire State Building

Empire State, Washington Square Arch

This is from an early morning excursion yesterday. It was really cold, but there were some nice shooting opportunities that made it worthwhile. I did regret not bringing my removable finger gloves. By the time I took this shot I had been out for nearly an hour and my hands hurt.  It’s a rather obvious shot in some ways, with a frame of the Empire State Building through the Arch at Washington Square looking up Fifth Avenue.  The time of day allowed me to get into what I think was the ideal position for the framing without fighting crowds, plus the early morning light was pretty sweet.

  1. Sweet shot, Mark. I like the lighting and detail here.
Those lamp posts also lead the eye into the depths of the image.
