Dinner In A Lovely Setting

Last week my family celebrated my mother’s birthday at Harvest on Hudson, a restaurant on the Hudson River in the town of Hastings-On-Hudson. And yes, both are located on the Hudson River. HotH features Italian cuisine with an emphasis on local produce. My wife and I found the main courses to be quite good, and in line with what you would expect from a restaurant of its class and, well, expense, but not extraordinary. But the views and the desserts were another matter.

Above is a giant stone see-through fireplace. The evening light was hitting it just so and I did not even have to leave my seat to grab this shot.

The dish above is a flourless chocolate cake, which was my dessert. I’m not a big fan of flourless cakes, but it was still the most appealing item to me and my small risk paid off, because it was quite wonderful. Below is a plate of cookies and cannolis that both my wife and younger daughter ordered. When this was placed in front of my daughter my wife told her that this platter was probably for the both of them, but then the waiter brought a second.  This is quite a generous dessert portion and we brought almost one full portion home, where I had a chance to try the cookies and they were delicious, even a day or two later.

Finally, this is the view at sunset from the park grounds outside the restaurant. As I’ve previously discussed, dinner at a restaurant can be a great opportunity to grab some photo memories.
