Rivington Street

I think this is an abandoned school building, bu tit’s hard to find out for sure. I would probably have to find and ask a long time resident of the neighborhood. As best as I can tell, the building has looked like this for at least a few years, and maybe longer. Rivington Street is on the Lower East Side, and among others, George Burns once lived there. Hey, maybe he knew what this is, but unfortunately, I can’t ask him any more.

Goodnight Gracie.

  1. A picture that I love because the inherent tension in it. It’s sad as an abandoned building and yet the red scaffolding and hoarding suggest something vibrant and alive. And that’s why I dins it such a successful image.
