The Brooklyn Waterfront is largely inaccessible for long stretches where one would want to take pictures. The park I tried to visit this morning was closed, fenced, and gated. Apparently it does not open until 9am. So I drove on a bit and ended up in Greenpoint, a neighborhood I had not previously visited, and found lots of interesting material, plus one small area with waterfront access.
Despite the old time feel on the outside, the Red Star Bar is a very modern sports bar on the inside. For some reason it was the scene of some low-key but lengthy police action this morning. I had to compose carefully in a few instances to keep the cruiser from becoming the subject of an image.

11 Jun 2012Great composition but what a shame about all the wire and cable streamers – nothing you can do about them, I realize.
