A Star In The East

Fifth Avenue 57th Street Star (Snowflake)

This truly is facing East, or as near as you can get with Manhattan’s street grid. For as long as I can remember this star (some call it a snowflake) has hovered over the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street every December, and though quite simple, it has always been one of my favorite public Christmas decorations. There is a good chance this will be next year’s Christmas Card image.

    1. Well, of course, it looks pretty much the same facing west, with just a different set of building creating the urban canyon. I also had options to shoot it from north or south on Fifth Avenue as well. I’m probably going to post a few more images of it coming up from different points of view.

  2. Nice light from the star. What a catch.

  3. Awesome hiliday photo!! I love when cities keep up cool traditions like this. Happy holidays!!
