Propped

This was taken from the exact same spot as yesterday’s image, with just a slight change of direction and focus. The DEP is the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and I have no idea what this item is doing here, or how it is protecting the environment, but here it is.
I’m trying something a little different with the format of today’s post, admittedly by accident. I’m posting this vertical image somewhat smaller than I normally do. I usually post them 900px wide, which is the same width I use for photos with a landscape orientation. That makes vertical portrait oriented photos extremely tall, and requires that pretty much everybody scroll up and down to see the entire image, no matter how big or powerful their monitor is. I kind of like that even though you cannot see the entire image at once, but when I accidentally pasted in the wrong link for this image I thought I would leave it and let folks weigh in with their preferences, if they care to do so.
Happy Friday, and Happy Memorial Day weekend, everybody.

  1. I kind of like seeing the whole image at once. I’m lazy. 🙂 The dof does make you start moving your eye up to find the clarity.

  2. Tough call on the format there, Mark, I totally see both sides. I guess I sort of prefer it this way so we can take in the whole thing in one go, but the sharp details you get when it’s full size is hard to beat too. Not very helpful, am I. Oh! I LOVE this shot! What a cool composition you’ve done here, I love the drama it creates!
