Forest Avenue Elevated Subway

And so, after a hiatus, we resume our trip under the last leg of the elevated subway M train line in Ridgewood, Queens.  This is underneath the Forest Avenue station. Because the line is coming out of an alleyway and is not running under a road, I’m able to set up centered under the tracks without blocking traffic or endangering myself. I took two shots from here. The first with a long lens, and second with a super wide angle. Unfortunately, I messed up the focus on the long lens, but decided to crop closely in on the wide angle which gets — at least partially — a similar effect. To keep from losing too much detail on the crop I used OnOne’s Perfect Resize to increase the image size before cropping down. Oddly enough, I also used Topaz’s Clean plugin, which took some detail out, because I liked the way it cleaned up some of the infinite receding pattern of lines.

  1. Great POV here Mark, I like the depth to it and all the different lines and shapes, so much to look at. Great blue tones too.

  2. Great PoV and lines. I like how the tracks just feel as if they go on and on without ever stopping.

  3. I like how you can see it going straight down between the buildings, like it might never end!
