For better or worse, the composition here is largely accidental. Oh, I did decide to point the camera straight up, but beyond that the framing was largely a guess. I suppose I could have crouched way, way, down, or even just lay down on the sidewalk, but I didn’t. So the fact that the corner of the building just about touches the subway edge, and happens to do so right where the support pillar stands, is happenstance.  My only real goal while framing the shot was for the camera to be truly level, and I think I nailed that.

If you haven’t noticed, I changed the rotating images in the site header. If you missed them, you can reload the page or just click to another link on the site to see them.  The middle 3 are from the bus stop and crosswalk series. That might seem odd because I just finished those series, but they stand here and it makes sense to acknowledge them in the header rotation. I really needed to change them, though, because the old set was from a very early phase in my photography, and my style has certainly developed and hopefully improved to a point where those images are not really representative of my current work.
