I love the energy coming off the man in the foreground of the crosswalk. I’m not sure why. He’s not really all that different from dozens of other people crossing the street in this series, but there’s something that makes it seem as if he’s about to walk right out of the picture.

This subway entrance on East 53rd Street is closed, but I’ve got to say that the hint of light coming out of the doorway just beyond, under the fancy awning, seems real enticing. By the way, with extremely rare exceptions, the subway and all of its individual stations never close, but certain entrances have limited hours.

UPDATE: After doing some additional research, I discovered that the mystery supports are the remnants of an Upper Station Platform that is no longer used, and an extended Myrtle Avenue Elevated line that no longer exists. Fresh from last night. I haven’t been out shooting bus stops or crosswalks at night for several weeks, due to all the snow and cold. It was still cold last night, obviously, but it felt more manageable.  It was good to be back out.
